2021-08-16 Pulled original 2GB DDR3-1600 SODimm and put in an 8GB stick removed from the Dell XPS 2710 (Put a 4GB stick into the Dell so is 12GB (8GB + 4GB) then gave the Dell away


2021-08-15 OOB installation

  • Installed 2 x MX500 1TB Drive slot 1 + 2
  • QFinder -> Downloaded and install latets FW 4.5.4.1741
    • Windows shares only
    • 192.168.2.7
    • admin / usual for internal shared devices
  • 2 x MX500 1TB configuration:
    • Added Raid 1 (Mirrored) Storage Pool (922GB available) with 10% SSD over provisioning = ~750GB available
    • Added first volume ‘SysDefault’ 250GB inode 8k
  • 2 x Seagate Iron Wolf Pro 18TB (pp.co.nz ~$1050incl each)
    • 202105 purchase to drive slot 3, 202107 purchase to drive slot 4
    • Storage volume Raid 1 (mirrored) = ~16TB available
      • Took about 21 hours to ‘synchronise’ the raid array..
    • vCompanies 50GB
    • vGenPop remaining 16TB

    • Note MX500’s have 5yr warranty

    • If 500GB, free up another MX500 500GB from elsewhere by swapping in the spare Samsung above
  • Spinning rust drives for Drive slots 3+4
    • mirrored 2 x 18th Seagate Iron Wolf Pro (remove these from TS-230)
